Each March, the members of the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild take part in a challenge quilting project for National Quilt Month. A Challenge Quilt is a quilt designed and constructed by a member with certain requirements. Everyone gets a piece of the same material and that material has to be integrated in each design. The members then vote on the ones they believe best fit the rules of the challenge. The theme for the Challenge Quilt this year was "The Music of Life". There were 13 entries for the 2010 Challenge.
The entries will be displayed at the Rolla Public Library for the month of March. |

Made and owned by Joan Hailey Hansen Name of quilt: "You Are My Sunshine" 3rd place in the 2010 challenge "The Music Of Life" The top says "The Music Of Life". It is a picture my granddaughter at age 5. She is wearing a dress up dress that I made her and the fabric used in the quilt was the actual fabric. The purple bow on her hat is 3 dimensional. Her shoes are suede. The figure was copied on iron on photo cloth. I drew the treble clef. The quilting is double hearts and curly-ques. She is my little ray of sunshine. |
